Travel

A big question for many travelers: How do I travel well?

A big question for many tourists: How do I make the most out of my trip?

There is an obvious difference between these two. The traveler first thinks of others and of the place where he or she is going. Yes, they may be there for only a short time, but their mindset is focused on how they are impacting the culture they are in and how it is impacting them.

The tourist is generally focused on what they can gain from their travel experience. They might rarely consider how their visit is impacting those around them, or how they are coming away from the trip impacted as well.

Now, I have certainly been a tourist in many scenarios. It is not a bad thing to be a tourist, but it can veer quickly into a mindset that is not helpful to either party.

How do we cultivate the mindset of a conscientious traveler? How can we visit a place in a meaningful, unharmful way, and even leave a positive impact behind?

More thoughts coming soon...

Don't just be a tourist.

Be an adventurer. Be a traveler.

Know the countries, the cultures, and the people that make up this wide world.
